Cook/Dietary Position (Part-Time)

Job description:

Chippewa Manor is looking for a Cook / Dietary Assistant to join the team in the kitchen and dining room of our senior living and nursing and rehab campus. We feature a large, well-equipped kitchen and positive working atmosphere. Responsibilities include preparing meals for residents of our senior apartments and helping with the day-to-day operations of our restaurant-style dining room and kitchen.

Status and Compensation:

  • Dietary Assistant shift is 6 am – 2 pm
  • Cook shift is 5 am – 1 pm

Duties, responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat and work shiftsdults ages 55-plus. Our dining room and kitchen areas are as nice as any restaurant in the area. Position includes helping to serve meals and drinks, cleaning up dishes for residents, family and friends.
  • Prepare and help plan meals
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
  • Work with dietary team to present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work areas
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating on complex dishes
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of other people, such as waitstaff, clients and family members, management and sometimes vendors
  • Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting and dicing
